PCTFE (KEL-F)

Polychlorotrifluoroethylene, widely known with the name of PCTFE (or KEL-F until few years ago) is a polymer obtained by polymerization of chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE). PCTFE is characterized by the presence of a greater number of chlorine atoms compared to those of fluorine. This majority leads to a lower melting point (218 ° C) but makes this material more solid and waterproof. The main feature of this material is its ability to keep all these properties unaltered within a wide temperature range (-240 ° C – + 204 ° C); that is why it is suitable for cryogenic application.

MAIN FEATURES

  • excellent thermal stability
  • excellent chemical waterproof
  • resistance to hydrolysis
  • excellent electrical properties
  • high transparency
  • flammable

APPLICATIONS

  • cryogenic
  • chemical
  • medical
  • military
