Chevron Packings are also called V packings or vee packing seals, They are composed of male/female seals which form a set that is used for sealing usually in the presence of fluid in static, reciprocating and centrifugal applications. They are generally manufactured in virgin PTFE, modified PTFE, glass or carbon fiber-filled PTFE, PEEK,; a combination of materials is not only possible but recommended. While the design is generally quite standard, the selection of the right material and the number of rings to use depends on the operating pressure, temperature and media to be sealed.
Chevron packings are recommended to stem pressure and to avoid any shrinkages in presence of linear or rotatory movements
